Innovative mobility solutions to promote social inclusion.

Transport poverty is a condition in which individuals or communities lack the mobility needed to participate in civic, social, and economic activities.

In this project, gaps in mobility and necessary accessibility improvements for vulnerable communities were identified, leading to the development of new tools and business models. The project studied the grouping and pooling of travel requests from groups of vulnerable users as a way to evolve from exclusive and geographically limited mobility to an inclusive and participatory approach.

The project included eight groups of vulnerable users and six study regions. In Portugal, the municipalities of Guarda and Torres Vedras were involved. TIS participated in diagnosing needs and assessing barriers, as well as presenting innovative business models and adaptable transport solutions.
