The general objective of this assignment is to provide expertise in supporting the Commission in the areas of urban air mobility, sustainable urban mobility indicators, and multimodal hubs.
The specific objectives of this assignment are presented below:
- Support the Commission through relevant expertise in economic, social and technical sectors, aimed at investigating the possible improvement or potential conflicting issues in the three areas of study, taking an active role in advising and orienting the Commission.
- Offer guidance and good practices for improvement of EU legislation, in order to accelerate the R&I lifecycle and deployment of new concepts, products, services or systems.
More specifically, we will provide a new impulse to the Commission approach in the following three work packages / areas covered by the assignments:
Work package 1: Urban Air Mobility (UAM): by means of technical and secretarial support to the UIC2 community, also for the organisation of meetings and workshops, as to support the sharing of knowledge and best practices related to UAM. The overall goal is to support the advancement of innovative technologies, achieve market deployment and integration of IAM into conventional airspaces.
Work package 2: Sustainable Urban Mobility Indicators (SUMI): by supporting the Commission in developing appropriate and reliable indicators and negotiate the implementing act setting out their methodology, including the implementation of the following activities:
- Identify data sources at urban, regional, MS or European level relevant for the seven areas;
- Establish a mapping of mobility data available in urban nodes;
- Provide support with data mining expertise and with establishing a mapping of urban mobility data collected by or accessible to the urban nodes covering the seven areas.
- Provide on-going support to the negotiations of the implementing act setting out the methodology for the various indicators;
- Provide expert advice on the definitions of indicators covering the seven areas.
Work package 3: Multimodal hubs: by providing expertise on multimodal passenger hubs covering the following areas: characteristics and mobility services, components of multimodal passenger hubs, solutions in order to make the multimodal passenger hubs resilient and environmental friendly, ideas on how to shorten the time while enhancing the sustainability of journey, individuation of financial needs for these measures and identification of areas of priority, possible good practices in EU to be improved.
